How the Hail Insurance Claim Process Works

Most homeowners have never filed a hail claim before. TruBuilt has worked hundreds of them. Here's what to expect — and how we make it easy.

1

The Storm Hits

After a hail event, your property may have damage you can't see from the ground. Hail leaves behind bruised shingles, granule loss, dented gutters, and cracked siding — most of it invisible without a trained eye and a ladder. Don't assume you're fine because you don't see obvious damage.

2

Free Inspection & Documentation

TruBuilt comes out and does a full inspection — roof, gutters, siding, windows, fascia. We photograph everything, measure hail strike density, and produce a written damage report. This report becomes your claim foundation. No charge, no obligation to proceed.

3

Filing the Claim

Once we've documented the damage, you file a claim with your homeowner's insurance. TruBuilt helps you understand what to say, what to ask for, and how to avoid common mistakes that lead to underpayment. We can be on the phone with you when you call.

4

The Adjuster Inspection

Your insurance company sends an adjuster to inspect the property. This is the most important step in your claim — and the one where most homeowners get underpaid. TruBuilt is there. We walk the roof with your adjuster, point out what they're missing, and dispute anything that gets written off unfairly.

5

Claim Approval & Scope of Work

Once your claim is approved, you'll receive an Actual Cash Value (ACV) check. This is the first payment — your insurer's estimate of what repairs cost, minus depreciation. TruBuilt reviews the scope to make sure nothing was missed. If it was, we go back and supplement the claim.

6

The Build

We schedule your job, order materials, and get to work. Licensed crews, quality products, clean job sites. We coordinate everything — you don't manage logistics.

7

Recoverable Depreciation (RCV)

After the work is complete, you submit proof of completion to your insurance company and receive your second check — the depreciation that was held back. TruBuilt helps you navigate this process so you collect everything you're owed.
